The mic program is simple.
Designed for individuals and groups seeking an extended stay, the program offers the time and space to focus on creative practice while experiencing the unique lifestyle of Japan’s remote islands.
Our support in three key areas.
1. Space
Each participants is provided with space for
①accommodation ②work ③sharing
The facilities are located nearby the calm sea.
Basecamp
This is our base of the program; a place to create, connect, and enjoy good food together.
The building is a traditional Japanese house that is over 140 years old. When we first found it, it was quietly hidden among overgrown trees and plants. It wasn’t in the best condition.
The renovation is still ongoing, and we hope to keep evolving the space gradually together with those who gather here. We value the inherent spirit and presence of the building, approaching it with the mindset of being temporary guests in the space. We hope to share time here with that sense of humility and respect.
Accommodation / Tsumiki[tsɯ̥miki]
The house is suitable for a group of two or an individual.
This is the first small yet cozy house we renovated. The tatami mats were dismantled, cleaned, and reused as aggregate and decorative elements in the earthen walls. Please enjoy the rich, shifting expressions of the earthen walls as they change with the light. (tumiki ‘s renovation process)
2. Experience
Our basecamp is located in a small community, but the area has many inspiring locals. If participants wish to connect with the local community, we are happy to help facilitate introductions. While we do not provide full-time translation services, we are always willing to support when it contributes to your creative activities.
