About
New beginning of my storytelling
My name is Go. For over twenty years, I have worked through the language of visual storytelling. My path has taken me across many countries and distant regions, where I have listened to and shared the quiet, powerful stories of people and communities living far from the center of the world. I feel really lucky to have met and worked with friends and colleagues from all kinds of backgrounds after spending about 14 years living in the U.S. and China.
I wish to open a new chapter in this journey. Through the mic program, I want to give voice to the experiences of those who visit the island, as well as to the local communities they encounter.
The island captured my heart. A few years ago, I visited this island to see a friend. One evening, I watched the sun dissolve into the horizon from his sailing yacht. The mirror-like water reflected the colors of the sunset, and I was deeply moved. I felt my breathing fall into rhythm with its quiet waves. About a year later, I moved to the island.
With this program, I hope to gather a circle of friends who like to make and create with their hands and hearts, and to share their stories on this small, yet profoundly beautiful island community.
The Motivation of the Program
This program began with a simple hope: to believe in the possibilities that can unfold when we connect through the act of making.
Over the years, I have met people from many different backgrounds, cultures, and values. “Making” and “connecting” do not always come together easily. Differences in values can surface, and misunderstandings can arise. And yet, when we share time and space devoted to creating something, even quietly, something shifts. We begin to sense a connection.
Even if we do not share the same language, and even if our cultures and value differ, there are moments when we understand one another beyond words through shared presence and the simple act of creating together. I hope to meet those who sense this possibility too, and to connect through this beautiful place that brings us together.
Your participation fee will help nurture and grow this program and its network. Looking ahead, I hope it will also support collaborative projects among participants and with the local community.
I truly believe that your time here will gently expand what “making” and “connecting” can mean for this program, and for all of us who become part of it.
